The glamour of motherhood, a true story.

It's Friday night, Cody just got home from work and I'm sitting on the bedroom floor with a mason jar of wine. This is my first moment of alone time all day. I have spit up in my hair, on my shirt and spaghetti sauce from lunch under my finger nails. I barely found enough time to brush my teeth this morning, and by morning I mean 11am. I'm wearing my favorite yoga pants for the third day in a row and yet another one of my husbands oversized shirts.

All I want is to slip into a hot bath and soak the next few hours away, I imaging a world that lets me hide in here until the children are fast asleep and I can cozy up on the couch and watch the inappropriate tv shows that we have to save for when little eyes aren't around. But alas...I will have to settle for a quick shower, because there is a toddler to feed and a fussy baby to nurse.

I speed through, foregoing conditioner in an attempt to save time and opt for a glob of leave-in and a quick comb through. My mascara is hanging on to the undersides of my eyes for the second day in a row, but I do manage a couple swipes of deodorant under each arm. I look in the mirror, take a few deep breathes, a quick pep talk, a pat on the back and back to the battle field that is our living room.

Reagan is crying because she wants bread for dinner and not what has been prepared. Carter is in the swing on the brink of losing her shit and has spit up dribbling down her chin. Cody and I shoot each other the "is it bed time yet" look, or is it the "pass the vodka" look?? But we carry on. Mainly because that's our only option. These days go by so fast, and soon they will be a distant memory. And when the time does come to tuck in the covers and turn out the lights, I look at my girls and my heart is so full. I would choose this life 100 times over. After all, I will have plenty of time for that hot bath when the girls are grown.

Spring is in the air, and so is Reagan

We are still getting the hang of Cody's work schedule these days. Yesterday and today was his "weekend", and today was GORGEOUS we spent the morning sipping coffee on the patio and chasing Reagan around the yard.

Reagan only decided to slow down when Cody scooped her up, swung her around and tossed her in the air.

This girl is loving life these days! I cant wait for our first Summer spent in this yard!

Kicking it with some friends!

My most favorite time of the day is the morning, has been since Reagan was born. I love to wake up slowly, lounge in bed and snuggle my babes.

This morning wasn't anything out of the ordinary until this happened. It was too cute not to capture, so I grabbed the camera and snapped some pics.

Reagan decided that Carter needed to have some snuggles with her favorite stuffed friends. She carefully stacked each one, then topped it off with a random solo sock that was laying near by.

It was the perfect way to start our Friday.

One month

My Sweet baby Carter,

Wow, what a fast month this has been. A pretty uneventful one (in the best way possible), you are a rock star sleeper, eater and snuggler. You seem to be growing bigger everyday, your 3 month jammies are already getting a little short in the arms and legs. You like to eat every two hours during the day, but are only getting up two (sometimes one!!) time at night to eat. You are what the doc calls a spitty baby, you spit up A LOT and burp A LOT. But you are gaining weight well so there is no cause for concern, hopefully you grow out of it soon.

I'm pretty sure your Sister thinks you are the best thing since sliced bread, and she likes her some bread. I am so happy that you girls will have each other as you grow up. I hope that you can find a true friend in your Sister and that you always know that you can turn to her in times of happiness and heartache.

Your Daddy and I have been trying to decide whether your eyes will turn from blue, they almost seem to be getting lighter. Your hair is a very reddish brown, you are certain to be a beauty for sure.

I am so excited for what your future holds, and I can't wait to see the little lady you become.

Everyday I look at you and think to myself how lucky I am to get to be your Mother.

I love you sweet girl.

Forever and Always.

XOXO
Momma

20 Months

Twenty Months

Stats: 32 inches & 23 lbs

Clothes: 12 and 18 month

Favorite food: bread is still top of the list. Loving milk especially when I mix in chocolate breakfast powder. Yogurt and olives, not together usually. And pancakes.

Favorite words: that, mess, baby, clean up, all done, where'd go.

Favorite activities: drawing, hugging and holding Carter, going for drives, taking off her clothes, bath time.

Least favorite activities: waking up from naps, Reagan hates life for about 20-45 minutes after taking a nap.

Signature moves: I officially name this month, the month of the naked Reagan. Reag has been anti clothes and diaper, when she decides she has had enough of wearing clothes she starts pulling at them hulk-a-mania style and grunting until I give in and take them off her. Once summer rolls around it will be a clothes optional kind of place.

Mom's proudest moment: I have been so blown away with how well Reagan has adjusted to carter. I knew she would do good, but I really didn't expect her to do so stellar.

Dad's proudest moment: a few weeks ago I was hanging shelves in the bathroom, Reagan watched intently as I used the handy dandy stud finder. As soon as I put it down she grabbed it and ran out, never to be seen again. Well one night all of us were watching tv, something educational I'm sure, and Reagan pulled the stud finder out of her toy bin and started gliding it around the wall, Cody was so blown away that she knew what to do with it. After taking numerous pics he turned to me and said, "put this down as my proudest moment". Done.

Other milestones:

We have had a pretty low key month, lazing around the house while snow flurries blow about outside and babies poop themselves inside. Reagan, you have grown and developed so much this month. It's so much fun taking you to run errands, you are such a little lady and it is so fun to watch you interact with your surroundings and everyone in it. You manage to always find someone to flirt with when we go out to eat, you have a soft spot for elderly men. You say hi and bye to evvveryone in grocery isles, and are the best back-up singer around as we cruise town belting out Kacey Musgraves and Pistol Annies.

And finally, can I remark about how freaking fast this year is going?! Dislike. I cant believe that in four short months you will be celebrating your second birthday. It is so bittersweet, I love watching you grow up but hate that time is flying by so fast. I really want to make a better effort to document the little things that make up our day, the things that amaze me and make me laugh. I want to remember these days forever. For evvvv eeerrrr.

Just pictures today

I've got a mountain of dishes in the sink and piles on piles of laundry to fold and put away, so instead of thinking up a witty blog post I will leave you with some pictures from around the casa.

At least I know my husband will appreciate it.

Happy Monday!
