Nursery Update for baby Carter

We've been hard at work on Little Miss's soon to be new home. I still have a little ways to go before I feel 'done' but I wanted to give a sneak peak.

Hope you like it!

Clearly my top of the closet shelf needs some help...I also still need new hardware on my closet doors.

Loving the little above the changing table light we scored from Ikea. It will be a life saver for those late night/early morning diaper changes.

The changing table still needs some love too. The hard part about re-using furniture (from Reagan's nursery) is finding new ways to update it. I want to make it special for Carter, because lets face it, this girl is destined for hand-me-downs her whole life. Sorry babe.

I'm thinking some baskets will help jazz it up.

Does her crib look familiar?? Maybe because it's the exact same one Reagan has. I was lucky enough to find an exact match on craigslist. SCORE! I initially was hoping to get Reag in a toddler bed by the time Carter was ready for her crib, but decided since Reag loves her crib so much and sleeps so well I wasn't going to mess with perfection.

Best moment this week: 26 week checkup with Doctor Smith. He's the best. All is well with Baby Carter, I had to do my glucose test, and I'm down to appts every 2 weeks....guess it's time to get serious about this baby thing.
Miss Anything: Jeans that fit just right.

Food Cravings: Umm....does mass quantities of anything count as a craving. So hungry these days.

16 Months

Age: 16 Months

Stats: {Your guess is as good as mine}

Clothes: Still in 9-12 for the most part.

Favorite food: "Bree" which is bread. Reagan loves her some bread, I have bought some cinnamon raisin bread and pumpkin strudel bread and she loves that for breakfast.

Favorite words: Loves "Uh-oh"! She is a chatty little thing, most of which is rabble-gabble, with an occasional "bye" thrown in. She is a "Peeaa" (please) pro, she knows that she has to say it before we will give her things she wants.

Favorite activities: Karate Kicking complete with a "HIIYAA".

Least favorite activities: Not getting what she wants.

Signature moves: Still a champ at kiss blowing, also loves to walk up to me and hug/kiss my legs when I'm standing up.

Mom's proudest moment:  We were watching a food network show, and Reag saw something that must have peaked her interest because all of a sudden she was all "MMMMmMMMMm" and "YUM YUM!" it was so cute that she thought something on TV looked tasty. For someone who could watch the food channel all day it was a pretty happy moment for me.

Dad's proudest moment: Eating a Tim's Jalepeno chip like a champ! Reagan begged and begged for a bite when Cody was eating them and after telling her she wouldn't like it, that it was too spicy 100 times, I gave the go-ahead to give her a little piece. And although she ate it, she didn't ask for another one! We were pretty proud of her!

Other milestones: Reagan is an active as ever! She is really well behaved and listens when we ask her to do something (most of the time). Reagan has adjusted really well to the move and seems to really like it here.

Her 18month Molars have been starting to bother her, they are so swollen and feel like they could pop through at any time.

I'm so happy she is such a good eater, she has started to protest things we know she likes a little- but after we pretend to take a bite and proclaim how delicious it is, she goes in gunghoe.

Reagan is officially a one nap a day kinda gal. She goes down for her nap about 12-2p and sleeps for 1.5-2 hours. She wakes up for the day between 7-7:30a and bedtime is between 7-8p.

Work Day

We were so fortunate to have beautiful weather on Friday - So we took advantage, left our boxes and mess inside and headed outside to get some chores done. Mainly raking pine needles. It's totally an uphill battle with these guys, but needs to be done never the less.

Reagan was quite the entertainer, and it was a good thing Grandma Karen was here to chase her around and keep her out of trouble.

She loved helping Daddy push the wheelbarrow! Hope she likes chores this much when she is older.

Just a few of our piles, I will gladly rake if Cody cleans up my piles after me. -Bending over at this point in pregnancy is a chore in itself!

Lots of tumble weeds that get stuck in the fence

Oh Happy Day!

And so glad we got out for some fresh air when we did, Saturday and Sunday have been nasty, cold and windy!!

We Made it a Week!

Just barely. Wednesday was a tough day for Reagan Grace and I, and when 5pm rolled around I decided that I needed to go ‘home’. I knew that if I started packing right now I could leave by 7 and Reagan would sleep the whole way there. As I began my mad dash around the house to throw a bag together, I started having second thoughts, maybe I should just leave in the morning, maybe I was over reacting, maybe I just needed a good nights sleep.

I decided to stay. I knew I needed to sleep, and that tomorrow was a new day.

When I woke up Thursday morning I kept myself busy with cleaning and organizing. And was glad that I hadn’t made that mad dash for the door.

It has been a harder than anticipated adjustment for me. The biggest absence is not having my amazing husband to rely on. He helps me keep my sanity when I’ve had a no good- very bad day. It’s also been tough to “move in” since the house has been vacant it is DIRTY- DUSTY and overall in need of some TLC. So unpacking takes twice as long because everything has to be cleaned before I can unload my boxes. All the while chasing after an almost 16month old and toting a baby bump around. By 7pm I am grateful when Reagan goes to bed, and I can shower and climb in bed about 8p.

We’ve been getting up every morning between 6:30-7a, enjoying our mornings in front of the fireplace with breakfast and cartoons. I try and get at least one big project done in the early afternoon, and evenings are reserved for a peaceful dinner-bath time-playtime-bed routine.

Reagan and I have been taking daily outside breaks to enjoy the weather. It’s been gorgeous, a little chilly in the shade but the warm sunshine feels great on our face. We’ve collected walnuts, raked pine needles and leaves and had lots of handfuls of dirt and gravel.

I’ve been surprised at how well Reagan has adjusted, she really seems to love it here. She spends a lot of time playing in her new room, and was ecstatic the day I set up her teepee. She has been napping and sleeping like a champ. I wake up a lot at night worried she is too hot/cold, but hopefully that will ease as I get more comfortable in our living situation.

So far, I’ve just been leaving an electric heater in her room to keep it warm. I don’t plan on turning on our furnace until December, the furnace is a HUGE power sucker and will gladly take all our monies from our wallet if we let it. Since the house is so large it will be a struggle to keep it warm throughout the Winter months, so we’ll see how this first winter treats us newbie’s. We have a pellet stove in the upstairs living room that kicks on when it hits 60 degrees overnight. In the morning I kick it up to 65 so we can get toasty warm, and thankfully the Fall sunshine has been keeping the upstairs warm throughout the afternoon.

Deciding to move over 3 weeks before my husband may have been a little ambitious, I will admit. But hey we are one week down, two weeks to go. I’m confident that us girls can make it through just fine. It will be a very pretty sight to see Cody pull in with his truck full ready to move in.
